Former hockey player and children's coach Oleksandr Poida died at the age of 53 in battles in the Kupiansk direction. This was reported by 'Glavcom' citing the Hockey Federation of Ukraine.

Born in Kamyanskyi, Oleksandr Poida worked with children's and youth teams of Kryvyi Rih's 'Kryvbas' and Kherson's 'Dnipro'.

'The Hockey Federation of Ukraine expresses condolences to the relatives, friends, and students of Oleksandr Mykolayovych. Thank you for your deed,' the post states.

Recall that as a result of a strike by the enemy drone type 'Lancet' in Kramatorsk, journalist of Freedom TV channel Olena Hubanova and operator Yevhen Karmazin were killed. According to Vadym Filashkin, the media representatives have been covering the situation in Donetsk since the very first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, telling the truth about enemy crimes and the evacuation of civilians. They worked in the hottest spots of the region.

Later, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the killing of the journalist and the operator by the Russians, expressed condolences to their relatives, and wished recovery to their colleague who managed to survive.

Both cases - the deaths of Ukrainian athletes and journalists - testify to the great losses that the military conflict in eastern Ukraine entails. Talented and dedicated professionals gave their lives in the fight for peace and truth. Together with their relatives and colleagues, we express our sincere condolences and memory of the fallen, as well as our support and determination in the fight against aggression.
