Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of those who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Andrii Buda.
Andrii Buda, the best educator of Plast, died in the combat zone. He was born in Volyn and grew up in Ternopil. According to the former head of 'Plast' Yurii Yuzhich, Andrii educated two young men who were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. These two Plast members demonstrated loyalty to Ukraine until the end of their lives.
Since 2014, Buda acted as a volunteer, participating in various initiatives. He not only fought at the front but also shared his knowledge as a historian, publishing valuable articles about the beginnings of Plast.
One of the special moments in Andrii's life was his work at the Plast camp 'Hoverla'. This camp in the Carpathians was a place where he inspired children with values and supported Plast members preparing for service at the front. The last time they met at this camp in Osmoloda by the Horgany River near the Limnytsia River. Yuzhich's quote emphasizes how important this work was for Andrii.
Andrii Buda died on December 10, 2025, in the Siversk community of the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region as a result of an enemy drone strike. For his participation in the fight and defense of the country, he received 7 awards and medals.
