Every morning at 9 o'clock, Ukrainians honor the memory of those who perished in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today our thoughts are with Illia Pidhainyi.
Illia Pidhainyi, known as Poltava, died on July 16, 2025, in battle in the Kupiansk direction. His wife, Khrystyna Pidhainai, reported this loss. Illia was born on August 8, 1997, the Russian-Ukrainian war took away the hopes and future of a young Ukrainian.
“In the first grade, Illia drew the teacher's attention to the rights of his classmate. Even then, he had a great social sensitivity,” his mother shared.
A graduate of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Illia decided to help his country and change it for the better. A year later, Pidhainyi began his military journey, where he proved himself as a true warrior and patriot.
The Hero's Fate at the Front
Illia Pidhainyi's life was full of cares and obstacles. But he always remained true to his ideals and country. According to him, dignity was the main quality he defended until the end.
“Illia was an example for all of us. His sincerity and strong will do not leave anyone indifferent,” shares a colleague's memories.
Illia Pidhainyi's funeral took place on July 22 in Kyiv. People honor the memory of the fallen and pay tribute to those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
