In the Kharkiv region, Russian troops attacked a passenger train on the route Chop-Barvinkove near one of the stations in the Barvinkiv community of the Izium district. As a result of the strike, a large fire broke out, one carriage burned completely, and another sustained significant damage. According to reported by the State Emergency Service.
Firefighters and a fire train were involved in extinguishing the fire. Initially, two casualties were reported, but later the information about the consequences of the strike was clarified.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that as a result of the attack, four deaths are known, and four more passengers are considered missing. According to him, over 200 people were on the train, including 18 in the carriage that was directly hit.

The prosecutor's office reported that fragments of five bodies have already been found at the scene. The final number of deaths and their identities can only be established after conducting DNA tests. Search and investigative actions are ongoing.
