Kharkiv Region: Three Injured, Including Minors, After Ordnance Explosions

In the Kharkiv region, specifically the city of Izyum and the village of Savyntsi, three people—two of them minors—sustained injuries from exploding hazardous devices. In Izyum, a detonation caused by a Russian drone left a man born in 1995 wounded. His condition is serious, and he remains hospitalized.

In Savyntsi, located within the Izyum district, two 16-year-olds—a boy and a girl—were hurt when an unidentified object exploded in a forested area. Both teenagers were taken to a medical facility for treatment. Law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding both incidents.

Safety Guidelines

It is critical to remember that if you spot a suspicious object:

  • do not approach it;
  • do not touch it;
  • call 101 or 112 immediately.

These events highlight the persistent danger posed by explosive remnants in areas affected by conflict. Despite ongoing demining efforts, the risk to civilians—especially children who may not recognize the threat—remains significant. Continuing to educate the public on how to react when encountering suspicious items is essential to reducing the likelihood of future tragedies.

The recent incidents in the Kharkiv region are a stark reminder of the ongoing risks associated with explosive remnants in conflict zones. Such events are not isolated; similar explosions in Ukraine have resulted in injuries to both children and adults, raising concerns about public safety.
