Kostyantyn Drokin Remembered After Fatal Attack
On July 15, 2025, soldier Kostyantyn Drokin, known by the call sign Smily, was killed near the village of Mali Prokhody in the Kharkiv region. He suffered fatal injuries from an enemy drone strike while carrying out a combat mission. Drokin served in the fire support company of a machine-gun platoon within the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko.
A Life Cut Short, A Legacy Honored
Born on January 2, 1975, in Kharkiv, Drokin studied medical equipment technology and later worked at the company 'Grand Facade,' where his duties included designing and installing metal-plastic windows and selecting hardware. For his service, he was awarded the 'Defender of the Fatherland' and 'Combatant' medals. Following his death, he was laid to rest on the Alley of Glory in Kharkiv.
He is survived by his mother, wife, and a daughter named Anna. Anna shared her memories of her father:
“He was always cheerful and kept friends from his school days. Many people miss him. He loved cats deeply and had one he called his best fluffy friend. We can’t believe he’s gone—we long to talk to him just one more time. To us, he will always remain a Hero.”
