The Death of Ivan Semeniuk
Senior Soldier Ivan Semeniuk, aged 28, was killed in action on January 20, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region. He was born on May 21, 1997, in the village of Bychal, Rivne district. Semeniuk was educated at the International University of Economics and Humanities and the Rivne State University for the Humanities, where he qualified as a physical education teacher and coach.
Before his mobilization in May 2024, he worked at a furniture factory in Rivne. He was also an active sportsman, passionate about football, and played for a team from Hoshcha. His life was cut short on the front lines, where he served his country with dedication. Ivan Semeniuk's funeral will be held on January 25, 2026, at the cemetery in the town of Hoshcha.
Remembering a Hero
He is survived by his wife, two sons, mother, and two brothers. His wife shared her memories of him:
“He lived with dreams and built plans for the future, but the war cut his path short. While serving, he always hurried home—to the family he loved immensely. Bright, kind, honest, hardworking, and true to his word and promises, Ivan always accomplished what he set out to do. This is how our Hero will forever remain in the memory of his family and loved ones.”
The loss of Ivan Semeniuk is another tragic chapter in the ongoing war in Ukraine. His death underscores the price paid by Ukrainian soldiers defending their nation and reminds us of the families left without fathers and husbands. Ukrainian society continues to honor the memory of fallen heroes, supporting their families during this difficult time. This conflict, now in its fourth year, has claimed tens of thousands of Ukrainian lives.
