Volodymyr Stasiuk: A Ukrainian Hero
On August 20, 2024, 34-year-old soldier Volodymyr Stasiuk lost his life while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region. He was born on March 17, 1990, in the city of Rivne. After attending Secondary School No. 19, he trained as a general-purpose machine operator at a local vocational school. He later pursued higher education at the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering, studying in the mechanical engineering department. Before being called up for military service, Volodymyr worked at the Rivne High-Voltage Equipment Plant.
Military Service and Remembrance
Stasiuk served along the Ukrainian-Belarusian border and was deployed to several intense combat zones, including Chasiv Yar, Krynky, and Kupiansk. His body was identified and returned to his family. A farewell ceremony was held for the hero at Independence Square in Rivne. He was laid to rest on the Alley of Heroes at the New Cemetery on April 21, 2026. He is survived by his parents and a brother.
Volodymyr's mother recalls her son: 'He first served on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. After that, he was sent to many hot spots—Chasiv Yar, Krynky, and Kupiansk. Before the war, Volodya was an athlete and played rugby. During his school years, he traveled to international competitions in Europe. He was a very kind boy and always tried to help everyone.'
