The National Reserve Khortytsia will receive a new storage facility for museum exhibits
A special storage facility for museum exhibits is planned to be built in Zaporizhzhia on the territory of the National Reserve Khortytsia, which can also be used as a shelter for people. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications with information from the Commander-in-Chief.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for using state budget funds to implement the project for the construction of a dual-purpose facility on the reserve's territory. This building will accommodate 200 people and will have two functions: in peacetime, it will be used as a storage for museum exhibits, and in case of danger, it will become a radiological shelter for visitors and employees of the reserve.
In wartime, the protection of cultural heritage is one of the state priorities. Therefore, we are creating conditions in which culture can survive during the greatest challenges. This is not only about preserving museum exhibits and our historical memory in wartime but also about protecting people. Khortytsia deserves modern solutions that combine culture, security, and sustainable development
A protective structure of this level will enhance the safety of residents and guests of Zaporizhzhia, as well as preserve the unique museum collection under any conditions. We remind that antlers of a noble deer that lived on the island of Khortytsia more than three centuries ago were found there. It is also worth noting that the occupiers shelled a recreation base in the Zaporizhzhia region with aviation bombs on the morning of August 6.
The construction of a new storage facility for museum exhibits on Khortytsia is an important step in preserving cultural heritage and ensuring safety for visitors and reserve employees in case of danger. Such measures contribute to both the preservation of historical memory and the protection of people's lives and health in wartime or emergency situations.
