Missing Boy Found Dead in Western Ukraine River

Authorities in the Ivano-Frankivsk region have recovered the body of a boy born in 2013, who went missing in the town of Halych. The search for the minor began on June 22 after an emergency call reported his disappearance. He had been spending time on the riverbank with a friend before suddenly vanishing.

Search and Rescue Efforts

Rescue teams deployed specialized equipment, including drones, to scan approximately 2 kilometers of the riverbed. Mountain rescuers using a catamaran covered 7.3 kilometers of the river's surface, while divers inspected 6,000 square meters of the riverbed. Personnel from the Lviv rapid response mobile rescue center also participated in the operation.

Psychologists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine provided counseling and support to the boy's family and loved ones. Law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances of the incident, urging parents to supervise their children more closely.

This tragedy is not an isolated case. In the Transcarpathian region, search efforts continue for a 10-year-old boy who was swept away by the Tisza River in the village of Hetyne on June 21. Additionally, three children drowned in the Rivne region within a single day, while in the Vinnytsia region, a 15-year-old teenager died while swimming in a reservoir on June 11 in the village of Noskivtsi, Stanislavchyk community.

This tragic event highlights the serious dangers associated with spending time near water, particularly for children.

Emergency services continue to emphasize the importance of water safety during the summer season, urging parents to remain vigilant. Ongoing searches for other missing children underscore the urgent need for stricter safety measures at bodies of water.
