Third Eruption in a Month on Kamchatka: Karymsky Volcano Ejects Ash Up to 2 km

In Kamchatka, the third eruption of the volcano has occurred in the last month. On the morning of Thursday, August 14, the Karymsky volcano woke up, ejecting an ash column up to 2 km above sea level. This was reported by

"Glavkom"
citing Russian media.



An orange (high) aviation safety code has been established for the volcano. According to the Kamchatka group responding to volcanic eruptions,

"the ongoing activity may affect airplanes flying low"
. Additionally, an ash cloud measuring 12 by 12 km has been observed 26 km southeast of the volcano.

Karymsky, which has a height of 1536 meters, is located 125 km north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and is one of the active volcanoes in the region. The resumption of activity at Karymsky is part of a surge in volcanic activity on the peninsula, as this is already the third significant eruption in a month.



Furthermore, on the morning of August 11, an eruption of the Klyuchevsky volcano occurred, and on August 2, the eruption of the Kraschennikov volcano took place. These eruptions were also accompanied by ash ejections to significant heights above sea level. Recall that after a powerful earthquake in Kamchatka, a tsunami also occurred.


The Karymsky volcano in Kamchatka erupted an ash column up to 2 km above sea level, after which an orange (high) aviation safety code was established. This is already the third significant eruption of the volcano in the region in a month, confirming the surge in volcanic activity on the peninsula.
