A volcanic eruption is being observed in Kamchatka, where Klyuchevskoy Volcano has thrown a column of ash to a height of 12 km above sea level. The incident occurred in the morning of August 11, according to the Head of the Regions with reference to the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service.

The ash plume is drifting eastward towards the Pacific Ocean, affecting the village of Ust-Kamchatsk and the village of Krutoberegovo. Minor ash fall is possible there.

So far, no ash fall has been recorded in populated areas, but rescuers advise residents to refrain from going outside unless absolutely necessary.

The KVERT group reported that the volcano's activity has slightly decreased but remains at a high level, marked red, which is the highest code for aviation danger. Streams of molten lava continue to flow from the crater. The eruption was triggered by a strong earthquake that occurred in Kamchatka on July 30. Klyuchevskoy Volcano, which is 4,850 meters tall, is considered one of the most active in the world.

Conclusion: A volcanic eruption occurred in Kamchatka, causing ash fall and significant destructive power. Authorities advise people to refrain from going outside as the danger has not yet passed.
