Hidden Arsenal Discovered in Private Home

A 38-year-old resident of the village of Trebukhiv in the Brovary district was arrested after police uncovered a stash of grenades and ammunition in his residence. The man lacked the required permits to possess these items, leading to his detention. He now faces charges under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a prison sentence of three to seven years. This case highlights ongoing efforts by Ukrainian law enforcement to curb illegal weapons trafficking, a critical concern given the country's heightened security environment.

Search and Seized Items

During a search of the property, authorities confiscated unregistered weapons and explosive materials. The illegal arsenal was stored within the private home, where the suspect kept combat munitions without authorization. The seized items include:

  • One F-1 grenade casing
  • Two RGN (offensive hand grenade) casings
  • Corresponding fuses and detonators for hand grenades
  • Ammunition of various calibers for automatic weapons

All confiscated materials have been sent for specialized forensic analysis.

The suspect has a prior criminal record. He was apprehended at the scene under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and is currently being held in a temporary detention facility. Investigators from the Brovary District Police Department are continuing their probe into the matter.

This incident underscores the importance of strict weapons and ammunition control in Ukraine, especially amid the ongoing security challenges facing the nation. The arrest serves as a warning to those illegally possessing such items and demonstrates the proactive stance of law enforcement agencies in combating illicit arms trafficking.

In a related incident, authorities recently uncovered a significant cache of grenades from a 27-year-old man in the Brovary district, further illustrating the challenges law enforcement faces in combating illegal arms possession. This case, along with the recent arrest in Trebukhiv, highlights the urgent need for stringent regulations on weapon ownership in Ukraine.
