Increased Traffic Ahead of Easter Holiday
Traffic is building at the Ukrainian-Polish border ahead of the Easter holiday, with the busiest crossing points currently at Krakovets – Korczowa and Shehyni – Medyka. To help manage the increased flow, four new mobile scanners have been activated in a test mode. These scanners are now operational at the Yahodyn, Rava-Ruska, and Krakovets crossings, with plans to deploy them at Shehyni once its reconstruction is complete.
In other border infrastructure news, reconstruction continues at the Bronnytsia – Unguri international crossing on the Moldovan border in Vinnytsia region, a project valued at over 162 million hryvnias. Furthermore, a new pedestrian crossing at the Uzhhorod – Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint on the Slovak border was officially opened on January 14th. These developments come as Ukraine continues to modernize its border infrastructure to facilitate trade and travel.
Temporary Restrictions and Official Advice
Meanwhile, temporary vehicle restrictions have been introduced at the Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmației crossing, effective on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM since February 16th. Due to lengthening queues, the State Customs Service advises drivers and travelers to consider using alternative border crossings, including:
- Uhryniv – Dołhobyczów
- Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne
- Hrushiv – Budomierz
- Nyzhankovychi – Malkhovytsi
- Smilnytsia – Krościenko
