New Tourist Trail 'VeloPidkova' Opens for Cyclists

On June 10, 2026, the Lviv region will debut a fresh tourist route called 'VeloPidkova.' Spanning 58 kilometers, this path connects three well-known castles: Zolochiv, Pidhirtsi, and Olesk. During the launch event, attendees can ride a 36-kilometer segment from Zolochiv to Pidhirtsi.

The ride kicks off at 11:00 AM at the base of the Zolochiv Castle museum-preserve. This new addition is part of broader efforts by the Lviv region, which recently joined the Camino de Santiago tourist route network. Earlier this year, Ukraine also introduced new tourist routes in Bakota, located in the Khmelnytskyi region.

Boosting Tourism and Infrastructure Development

According to the Lviv Regional State Administration, the route offers spots “where you want to stop every 5 minutes for a photo.” The launch of 'VeloPidkova' aims to attract tourists and spark greater interest in the region’s cultural heritage, particularly the Zolochiv, Pidhirtsi, and Olesk castles.

The opening of this new cycling trail marks a significant step for expanding tourism infrastructure in the Lviv region and promoting its historic landmarks. Drawing visitors through active recreation, like cycling, can positively impact the local economy by creating fresh opportunities for area entrepreneurs. Moreover, integration into international tourist paths, such as the Camino de Santiago, underscores the strategic importance of Lviv region as a tourism hub in Ukraine.
