Over the past day, there have been two cases of train accidents in the Lviv region, resulting in the deaths of two people. The police are establishing all the circumstances of these tragedies and urge citizens to be particularly cautious near railway tracks. The first incident occurred in the village of Horodysche in the Stryi district, where a passenger train fatally injured a 55-year-old man. Another incident took place in Sambir, where a freight train ran over a 45-year-old woman who, according to preliminary information, was sitting on the tracks and died on the spot.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the train accidents, which could lead to imprisonment for a period of five to ten years. The police remind that the railway is a very dangerous place and urge compliance with safety rules. The main causes of injuries and deaths on the railway are train accidents and high voltage in overhead power lines. Therefore, it is important to cross the tracks only in accordance with the rules and avoid dangerous situations.

  • Do not stand too close to the edge of the platform when a train approaches;

  • Crossing the tracks is allowed only in designated areas, using pedestrian bridges and tunnels;

  • It is prohibited to crawl under the cars;

  • Any play on the railway tracks is prohibited;

  • It is forbidden to climb on cars and locomotives as it is very dangerous;

  • Children should not be left unattended on boarding platforms.

Compliance with these rules will help avoid accidents and injuries on the railway.
