Detention of the Head of the Territorial Recruitment Center
The head of the regional territorial recruitment and social support center in Mykolaiv region has been detained while receiving another part of the money. According to the investigation, the official was documented receiving 15 thousand dollars in unlawful benefit for facilitating the evasion of conscripts from mobilization. The detention took place while he was receiving 10 thousand dollars, which were intended for three conscripts. For this money, he was to refrain from taking mobilization actions, remove them from the search in the 'Oberih' system, and create conditions for unobstructed reservation at their workplace.
Additional Facts and Investigation
Within this same proceeding, the receipt of another 5 thousand US dollars was documented.
“For this money, he was to prevent the mobilized man from being sent to the military unit and return him for a repeated medical commission,” said Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko. The official was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Searches are ongoing at his place of service and residence. A notification of suspicion is being prepared regarding the fact of unlawful benefit receipt. The prosecutor's office will apply for custody and suspension of the suspect from office.
It is reminded that at the end of July, the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches in over 100 territorial recruitment centers across Ukraine. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets had previously stated that up to 90% of mobilization cases occur with violations of human rights.
“We continue to work,” added Ruslan Kravchenko.
This case highlights serious problems in the mobilization system and the functioning of territorial recruitment centers, which should ensure legality and transparency in the conscription processes. The detention of a high-ranking official emphasizes the need for further control over the activities of such institutions and measures to prevent corruption manifestations. The investigation in this case may become an important step in improving the situation regarding human rights during mobilization.
