Odesa region declares a state of emergency due to the consequences of attacks on energy infrastructure

Одеська область вводить режим надзвичайної ситуації через наслідки атак на енергетичні об'єкти.

A state of emergency has been declared in Odesa region

A state of emergency of national level has been declared in the Odesa region after a meeting of the regional commission on technogenic and ecological safety and emergency situations. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper.

He stated that the decision was made during the meeting of the regional commission on technogenic and ecological safety and emergency situations.

“The basis for this was the consequences of the Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in recent times, which led to prolonged - over 3 days - disruptions of normal living conditions for more than 50 thousand residents of the region,” Kiper wrote.

According to the commission's conclusions, local authorities, community leaders, and the police must work with entrepreneurs and the population to effectively conserve electricity and ensure critical infrastructure.

Oleg Kiper also stated that funds will be directed to replenish fuel reserves for generators that support the operation of hospitals, schools, and other important facilities.

Attacks on Odesa

It is worth reminding that on the night of Saturday, December 13, Odesa became the target of a large-scale attack aimed at energy facilities to paralyze the city.

Also, on the night of December 10, Russian drones attacked the Odesa region, causing explosions in the city of Ananiv and the village of Shyriaieve. There is currently no official information about possible casualties.

A state of emergency has now been declared in the Odesa region to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of vital facilities and to conserve electricity.
