A scandalous scheme for child trafficking for adoption abroad was uncovered in the Odesa region. The police investigated a case where gang members used forged documents and pressure on officials to illegally transport children outside the country.
According to preliminary data, the criminals obtained forged income certificates, fake rental agreements, and baptism certificates to quickly gain custody rights. They also pressured officials by posing as influential individuals.
Unfortunately, at least 25 children have been affected by this criminal scheme, of which 13 were illegally transported abroad. The perpetrators face up to 15 years in prison with asset confiscation.
As a result of the investigation, it was found that criminal groups are also operating within Ukraine, using children for illegal purposes. The police are strengthening control and urging citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious situations.
