Instructor Removed Following Violent Incident at Vocational School
In the Odesa region, a teacher at the Danube Vocational Education Center was dismissed after a video surfaced showing him physically assaulting a first-year student enrolled in the 'Electrogas Welder' program. The footage captured the instructor striking the young man on the head, forcibly pulling him out from behind his desk, and dragging him across the floor during class.
Odesa Regional Department of Education and Science Director Oleksandr Lonchak confirmed the teacher’s termination, citing Article 41, Part 1, Clause 3 of the Ukrainian Labor Code, which addresses immoral conduct incompatible with the responsibilities of the position.
According to the institution's director, Nataliya Kostuseva, the use of force was triggered by the student verbally insulting the teacher with profanity. She also described the first-year group as particularly challenging compared to other cohorts, noting that the students had repeatedly provoked the instructor.

The Odesa police are currently investigating the incident, interviewing those involved and witnesses. A legal assessment will be determined based on their findings. Minister of Education and Science Andriy Butenko emphasized that no child or young person attending educational institutions should ever feel threatened by humiliation, aggression, or physical violence.
