Military Parade in North Korea
A military parade in North Korea reportedly featured soldiers who had fought in Russia's Kursk region against Ukraine. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry stated that thousands of North Korean military personnel have been killed in the war. Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhy noted that the North Korean soldiers marched under a Russian flag during the event.
Georgiy Tykhy's statement was published on February 27, 2026. He emphasized that while the soldiers might appear proud, they have nothing to be proud of.
“This propaganda farce is missing at least 6,000 North Korean soldiers who did not march in Pyongyang that day,”he remarked. This comment points to the severe casualties North Korean forces have suffered in the conflict, highlighting the tangible cost of Pyongyang's deepening military cooperation with Moscow.
Response from Ukraine's Foreign Ministry
Separately, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry responded to threats from Budapest and Bratislava regarding the cessation of electricity supplies. Georgiy Tykhy also stressed that the situation should concern every country in the Indo-Pacific region. He confirmed Ukraine's readiness to cooperate closely to overcome shared security threats arising from the deepening collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang.
The parade in North Korea, involving troops who fought alongside Russia, underscores a complex and dangerous regional security dynamic. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's statement on North Korean losses indicates serious consequences for Pyongyang, which could affect its future involvement in the conflict. Simultaneously, the threats from the Hungarian and Slovak governments concerning energy supplies add another layer of tension, causing concern not only in Ukraine but among other regional nations as well.
