The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, noted that during a potential Russian invasion through Transnistria, there were shooting incidents. In response, Ukraine issued a warning to Tiraspol. Zelensky emphasized that Russia first deploys its policy and only then sends in troops. He highlighted the importance of understanding the possible consequences of the elections in Moldova on the situation in the region.
“Everything starts with politics. We have gone through this: if there are 'our' parties in parliament, the next step will be to have 'our' government and, of course, to have 'our' president. And after that, there is military presence. This is how Russia operates.”
The situation in Moldova before the elections is tense, as Russian interference is intensifying. The head of the Association of Ukrainians in Moldova, Mykhailo Bahas, warns that political forces in the country must avoid protests that could contribute to attempts to change the country's course in favor of Russia.
The Ukrainian president emphasized the importance of avoiding the escalation of conflict and understanding the significance of the elections in Moldova for stability in the region.
