At the vegetable market in Ukraine, a significant drop in prices has been recorded due to delays in supplies and the arrival of the new harvest. The decrease in prices is particularly noticeable for young potatoes, beets, onions, and tomatoes. Prices for young potatoes, in particular, have sharply fallen by 75%. Wholesale prices for carrots and cabbage have also decreased, while bell peppers have increased by 33%.

The head of the Economic Discussion Club, Oleg Penzin, explains the current changes by the seasonal increase in the supply of early vegetables

Penzin predicts further reduction in vegetable prices in the second decade of July, especially for cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions. However, fruit prices will remain at the same level since the harvest of stone fruits is unstable.

Additionally, Ukrainian eggplants, sweet corn, and local watermelons have appeared on the market at reasonable prices. The price of eggplants ranges from 90 to 105 hryvnias per kilogram, while sweet corn is sold for 15-17 hryvnias each.

Conclusion

The updated harvest of vegetables has led to a decrease in prices in the market in Ukraine, particularly for potatoes, beets, onions, and tomatoes. Further price reductions are expected in the second decade of July, but fruit prices will remain within the price corridor due to the unstable harvest of stone fruits.
