Petition to Preserve the Ice Arena 'Kryzhynka' in Kyiv

Among the legendary sports venues in Kyiv, one of the most important - the ice arena 'Kryzhynka', is under threat of disappearance. To prevent the closure and the construction of a residential complex or office center in its place, a petition titled 'On the Preservation of the Ice Arena 'Kryzhynka' has appeared on the website of the Kyiv City Council. The author of this petition is Bohdan Holonyuk.

The idea of the petition is to demand that the city council preserve 'Kryzhynka' as an important sports facility for figure skating and hockey. The sale of the land on which the arena is located and plans to rebuild it as a residential complex could lead to the cessation of training for children and athletes, as well as the destruction of the sports base.

Russian Athletes at a Propaganda Event

This year's event by Putin at the Federal Assembly also saw the participation of Russian athletes. In particular, speed skater Oleksandra Sayutina, who was recognized as a neutral ISU athlete, took part in this event.

Photos of the athlete's participation were published by another Russian skier Veronika Stepanova on Instagram, where other participants of the event, including Putin supporters and Russian servicemen, were also noticeable.

It is worth noting that participation in such events does not comply with the IOC recommendations for neutral athletes.

As we approach the Olympic festival - the Olympic Games 2026 in Italy from February 6 to 22.

The Ukrainian capital and the entire sports world hope for a positive decision regarding the future of 'Kryzhynka', and are also expecting adherence to the recommendations regarding the neutrality of athletes in political events.
