The new state budget for 2026 allocates nearly 19 billion hryvnias for veteran policy. This amount is 6.3 billion hryvnias more than in the current year.
Main attention will be paid to meeting the needs of veterans, their families, and the families of fallen Defenders. Among the priorities are the allocation of 5.7 billion hryvnias for housing compensation for veterans with disabilities of the first and second groups, which is 1.7 billion hryvnias more than last year.
An additional 4 billion hryvnias will be allocated for various support measures for veterans, including programs in the fields of sports, education, medicine, and more. Separate funds are provided to support veterans who need palliative care, burn treatment, as well as rehabilitation and adaptation of veterans.
Other directions of fund allocation
In particular, the budget provides for:
- 2.9 billion hryvnias for the work of specialists providing support to veterans;
- 1.1 billion hryvnias for expanding the network of state veteran spaces;
- 1 billion hryvnias for dental prosthetics and dental treatment in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
Overall, veteran policy for 2026 is seen not only as a demonstration of the state's gratitude for protection but also as an investment in the resilience and recovery of Ukraine. The law on the State Budget for 2026 was adopted in the second reading by the Verkhovna Rada on December 3 and awaits the signature of the President of Ukraine.
