On the Moshchanka River, near the village of Verkivka in the Zhmerinka district, the fish protection patrol detained a man who was using a prohibited net, known as a 'cathcher', and caught 446 crucians weighing a total of 4.5 kg. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Vinnytsia fish protection patrol.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 14. During the inspection, inspectors found a prohibited net and 446 silver crucians with the man. The illegal catch of fish caused damages to the fish farming industry amounting to 705,125 hryvnias.
A investigative task force was called to the scene. The offender will be held administratively liable, and the materials of the case have already been sent to court. This is yet another case of illegal fishing that may cause serious harm to the environment and the economy of Ukraine.
The police discovered the poacher who was using prohibited fishing tools, violating fishing legislation. The man caught a significant amount of fish, causing damages to the fish farming industry. Law enforcement agencies are already taking necessary measures to bring the offender to justice.
