New Inclusive Shelter Options Take Shape in Vinnytsia Region
In Yampil, a newly equipped temporary residence has been opened for internally displaced people, with room for 33 individuals across two converted buildings that formerly housed a kindergarten. The project was implemented with assistance from partner organizations. During a working visit, Tetiana Kirienko, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, met with officials from the Vinnytsia Regional Administration to discuss how to improve access to social services for IDPs and increase the number of available temporary housing placements.
Services Aimed at IDPs with Reduced Mobility
The Ministry of Social Policy is providing a range of services designed for displaced persons with limited mobility:
- shelter and temporary accommodation,
- food provision,
- social support and accompaniment,
- long-term nursing care.
The discussion also covered a pilot scheme to purchase private homes in rural areas for displaced families. Kirienko emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach:
“Our goal is to make sure internally displaced people receive the support and living conditions they need in host communities, including social services, care, and medical assistance. Only a holistic approach can truly address their needs.” Tetiana Kirienko
This initiative fits into a wider national effort to improve the situation of displaced Ukrainians by expanding housing options and access to essential services.
