In the Vinnytsia region, a boy with disabilities tragically lost his life at just 10 years old. The child was living in difficult conditions, yet social services did not intervene. It turns out that the boy had not eaten for two months, and his condition worsened without seeking medical help. As of May 2025, he had stopped attending school.
Suspicion of 'leaving in danger, which led to the child's death and failure to fulfill parental duties' was announced against the mother of the deceased boy. A motion has also been filed for her to be held in custody. The Attorney General emphasized the importance of all actions to prevent similar tragedies, highlighting that this death is not natural but a crime.
This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of attention and action in case of concerns for a child's welfare, as well as demonstrating how vital it is to respond in a timely manner to signals of failures in the care and protection of children in difficult life situations.
