On Monday night, August 4, law enforcement received a report from medics about the hospitalization of a 16-year-old resident of the Mukachevo district with severe injuries sustained as a result of an explosion of an unknown object. This is reported by 'Hlavkom' referring to the police of Transcarpathia.
The investigative team established that the minor, while at his grandmother's, independently pulled the pin from a grenade, activating the explosive device.
As a result of the explosion, the boy sustained severe bodily injuries in the form of complete traumatic amputation of his right upper and lower limbs. He was hospitalized in the Regional Children's Hospital in Mukachevo, and is in the intensive care unit.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated on this fact under part 1 of Article 263 and Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely illegal handling of ammunition or explosive substances and careless severe bodily injury.
In a comment to 'Suspilne', the head of the orthopedic-traumatological department of the Transcarpathian Regional Children's Hospital, Yuriy Dmyan, spoke about the serious injuries of the boy, who arrived at the medical facility with multiple injuries. The condition of the victim remains critical.
