Serhiy Vlasenko's Remarks on the Search Operation

Detectives from Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) searched the office of Member of Parliament Serhiy Vlasenko on January 14. The raid took place at the 'Batkivshchyna' party office on Turivska Street. Vlasenko stated that the contents of his desk held no current case materials and suggested the law enforcement action was connected to his work as chairman of a Temporary Investigative Commission.

Serhiy Vlasenko, an MP from the 'Batkivshchyna' faction who assumed leadership of the Temporary Investigative Commission in June 2025, described the items seized as highly specific and unlikely to aid an investigation into alleged bribery of lawmakers. He also expressed surprise that authorities confiscated a package from his desk that had been there since 2013.

"I believe these searches are linked to my activities as head of the Temporary Investigative Commission," - Serhiy Vlasenko

This incident highlights the ongoing, politically sensitive anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine, where NABU frequently investigates high-profile figures. The search at the MP's office may signal NABU's continued aggressive actions against corruption, particularly concerning probes into parliamentary bribery. Vlasenko's role as commission chairman likely draws heightened scrutiny from authorities, given his parliamentary position and influence over political processes. The event may also spark further debate about the transparency and accountability of Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies.
