Searches in the State Tax Service of Ukraine
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is conducting searches in the central office of the State Tax Service of Ukraine (STS) as well as in the regional offices of the STS in Khmelnytskyi and Mykolaiv regions. These actions are related to the investigation of a corruption scheme concerning the energy sector.
On December 10, 2025, NABU detectives carried out searches at the officials of the Main Department of the STS in Khmelnytskyi and Mykolaiv regions. The criminal proceedings cover events that took place in 2024 and ended in early 2025. Previously, on November 10, 2025, NABU detectives also conducted searches at businessman Timur Mindich, former Minister of Energy and current Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko.
Discovery of documents and activation of the fight against corruption
It is known that businessman Timur Mindich left the territory of Ukraine just a few hours before the law enforcement visit. During the searches in Mindich's 'back office', 527 documents containing sensitive personal information about NABU detectives, journalists, politicians, officials, and representatives of law enforcement agencies were found. In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) along with NABU conducted searches at Anna Skorokhod, but the details of these actions have not yet been disclosed.
These searches indicate an intensification of the fight against corruption in Ukraine, especially in the context of the energy sector, where numerous abuses and corruption schemes have been recorded.
The investigation of corrupt actions in the energy sector is an important step in ensuring transparency and accountability of government structures.
NABU's actions may indicate a growing awareness of the corruption problem at both the level of government institutions and the business environment. This also underscores the importance of international support for Ukraine in the fight against corruption, as effective reforms in this area can positively impact the country’s investment climate.
