NABU's Role in the Lapathon2026 Hackathon

Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) participated in the Lapathon2026 hackathon, an event organized by the AI Meetups community and Bohdan Didenko. The challenge for participants was to build a platform for processing data from state and open registries, designed to analyze connections and identify potential corruption violations. This initiative is part of a broader effort to engage Ukraine's skilled IT professionals in the fight against systemic corruption.

Hackathon Winners and Results

The winning team was JustSolution. Second place went to the Lviv Mahjong club, with team ShocoLapky taking third. The projects were evaluated by NABU detective Valerii Buslaiev, who noted that while the data used during development was anonymized or synthetic, it closely mirrored real-world information. Such hackathons are becoming a key method for developing the data analysis tools essential for modern law enforcement. This event underscores the critical role of innovative tech solutions in combating corruption.

Engaging IT specialists in anti-corruption work highlights the growing necessity for advanced technology in Ukraine's ongoing struggle against graft. Organizing events like hackathons can be an effective way to generate ideas and create tools for data analysis, which can, in turn, promote greater transparency and accountability within government institutions.
