According to him, NABU uses its legislative power to close cases of major thefts, thereby complicating investigations by other agencies. The atmosphere where the anti-corruption body hinders others from detecting crimes raises questions about the bureau's integrity.
'People, this is not a sensation - corruption has long flourished in the bureau. When there was a 'pocket' for major corruption in state monopolies, all important positions were occupied by people who are supporters of NABU.'
The expert talked about the connections between NABU's leadership and business, and provided examples of negligence within the institution. He critically approached the competition for the position of director and laid bare the unjustifiability of the anti-corruption body's actions.
The specialist calls for reforming the corruption control system, as he claims that NABU helps to develop the 'best' corrupt traditions of Ukraine. Viktor Kurtev notes that bureaucrats have become a significant part of the country's bribery system.
