Nearly 1.5 Billion Hryvnias Allocated for Construction of National Military Cemetery

Видатна сума у 1,5 мільярда гривень призначена для створення меморіалу загиблим воїнам.

Progress on the National Military Memorial Cemetery Construction

Work on the National Military Memorial Cemetery is moving forward, backed by funding from two firms: Paritetbudinvest and the Building UA consortium. On December 19, 2025, Paritetbudinvest received a single payment of 750 million hryvnias. The Building UA consortium, meanwhile, was paid 280 million hryvnias on December 26, 2024. Combined contracts with these two companies total nearly 3 billion hryvnias.

As of July 2026, the Building UA consortium had received 779 million hryvnias—44% of its 1.76 billion hryvnia contract. By that same date, Paritetbudinvest had been paid 778 million hryvnias, representing 64% of its 1.21 billion hryvnia agreement.

Issues at the Cemetery Site

Despite the funding, problems have emerged on the grounds, including soil erosion following heavy rains. These conditions have led to sinkholes forming across the cemetery area.

Additionally, the company Avtostrada has withdrawn from tenders related to the memorial complex’s construction. Details on both the financing and site issues have been confirmed by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and recorded in official sources such as Spending.gov.ua. These challenges require ongoing monitoring and resolution to ensure the memorial project is completed successfully.

The National Military Memorial Cemetery is a key initiative meant to honor the fallen. However, infrastructure problems like soil erosion threaten the project’s timeline. Avtostrada’s withdrawal from tenders could also affect competition and work quality. Continued oversight from government bodies and the public is essential to effectively address these obstacles.
