Emergency Situation in Odesa Region
An emergency situation of state level has been declared in Odesa and the region due to massive strikes on the energy infrastructure. According to the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper, the situation arose as a result of a Russian attack on energy facilities that occurred on the night of December 13. The disruption of normal living conditions lasted for more than three days, affecting over 50,000 residents of the region.
Authorities' Actions for Stabilizing the Situation
A meeting of the commission on technogenic-ecological safety and emergency situations was held at the Odesa Regional Military Administration. Oleg Kiper noted that the commission, by a separate decision, instructed heads of military administrations, heads of communities, and National Police authorities to carry out preventive and explanatory work with entrepreneurs. This is necessary to ensure minimal use of illumination and decorative lighting for the purpose of saving electricity for the population and critical infrastructure facilities.
“These measures are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted operation of generators that supply critically important institutions such as hospitals, educational institutions, and resilience points.”
Oleg Kiper
The situation in the region remains under control but requires active measures to restore normal living conditions.
This emergency situation indicates the constant threats faced by Ukraine in wartime, particularly in the energy sector. The consequences of attacks on infrastructure can have a long-term impact on citizens' lives, making the measures taken critically important for ensuring stability and security for the population. Furthermore, active cooperation between local authorities and entrepreneurs is necessary to preserve resources and maintain the functioning of vital institutions in the region.
