Energy Sector Reset: Three Reasons Why the Reform Will Fail Again

Відновлення енергетичного сектору: Три основні причини, чому зміни знову не принесуть результату.

Reformatting the Energy Sector: Possible Past Mistakes

Head of the 'Consumers Union of Utilities' Oleg Popenko pointed out three main reasons why the reformatting of the energy sector may repeat past mistakes. He shared his thoughts in a Telegram channel, reports 'Khvylia'.

'Legendary Nemirovich-Danchenko once said: 'I don't believe.' And now these words are becoming the most relevant in the context of the announced 'reset' of the energy sector. Promises of systemic changes, updates of leadership and supervisory boards are heard again'

Popenko expressed doubts about the announced 'reset' of the energy sector, stating that the new changes could lead to the repetition of old mistakes. The expert explained that the selection of members for supervisory boards is now entrusted to those who have already failed in reforming. The team responsible for the selection has brought about the demise of corporate standards and the absence of real accountability.

The expert also emphasized that the lost control over key energy companies like 'Naftogaz' and 'Ukrenergo' could cause serious problems in the energy sector.

Popenko believes that hoping for changes from those who have already made mistakes in managing the energy sector is simply unnatural. He called for the necessity of true changes, which should concern those responsible for the effectiveness of managing state structures.

Earlier, information about possible attempts to establish communal 'traps' for Ukrainians during the winter period appeared.

Analyzing the speech of the head of the 'Consumers Union of Utilities' Oleg Popenko, it is worth noting that his doubts regarding the reformatting of the energy sector highlight the need for a cautious approach to changes. It is important to consider experience and avoid repeating the mistakes of past reforms, ensuring effective and responsible management of energy companies to achieve a new level of quality in the industry.
