Naftogaz Ukraine's Recommendations for Heat Conservation
Naftogaz Ukraine has published recommendations for maintaining heat in homes, pointing to five main reasons for heat loss and suggestions for their elimination. In cold weather, it is important to know how to effectively retain heat to reduce heating costs.
Main Reasons for Heat Loss
-
Improper ventilation of rooms. Naftogaz recommends ventilating homes for short periods: up to 5 minutes at temperatures below 0 degrees and up to 10 minutes at temperatures from 0 to 10 degrees. This allows for fresh air without significant heat loss.
-
Cracks in doors and windows. They can significantly lower the temperature in the home.
-
Closed heating batteries. It is recommended to leave 20-30 cm of free space near heating appliances so that heat can freely distribute in the room.
-
Incorrect use of thermostats. Experts advise maintaining a temperature of 20-22°C during the day and 18-19°C at night, which will contribute to more efficient use of heat.
-
Household habits. For example, leaving doors open for a long time leads to significant heat loss.
Naftogaz previously published advice on insulating entrance doors, through which up to 15% of heat can be lost. Additionally, experts remind about the importance of open and clean radiators, which can save up to 5% of heat. Following these recommendations can significantly reduce heating costs and increase comfort in living spaces.
In the context of rising tariffs on energy resources and increasing heating costs, Naftogaz's recommendations become particularly relevant for consumers. Reducing heating costs can significantly impact the financial situation of households, especially in conditions of economic instability. Knowing the main reasons for heat loss and following recommendations can help Ukrainians maintain comfort in their homes and reduce the financial burden during the winter period.
