A deputy from 'Servant of the People' Dmitry Gurin shocked with his controversial statements that sparked outrage among Ukrainians. First of all, he expressed the idea of revising the social support system for veterans and compared his work in parliament to military service. This information was spread by 'Glavkom', citing Gurin's posts on social media.

Veterans should not have any 'benefits'. No free rides, customs clearance for cars, and other benefits

At the same time, the deputy expressed the opinion that military personnel should receive payments for a cumulative pension, compensation for time spent in combat operations, educational programs, and medical assistance. Gurin called for social assistance to be provided only to those who really need it, while these needs exist, emphasizing the importance of restoring self-sufficiency and refusing assistance.

Debates Over Military Service

Defending the homeland is a duty stated in the Constitution. And my oath is also a service to the people of Ukraine

After public outrage online, Gurin apologized for his statements, claiming that he said something inappropriate. It is worth noting that recently another people's deputy, Alexei Goncharenko, hinted at the need for special clothing for social support center workers, provoking a wave of criticism.

In his statements, Dmitry Gurin sparked debates among Ukrainians regarding the social status and support for veterans, comparing their situation to that of the military. This situation reflects the relevance of the topic of social support and the need to balance the interests of various population groups in Ukraine.
