Lawmaker’s Electric Vehicle Acquisition
Yurii Shapovalov, a member of the 'For the Future' parliamentary faction, has officially disclosed the purchase of a 2026-model Zeekr 9X Ultra electric vehicle valued at 5.7 million hryvnias. To fund this acquisition, Shapovalov sold two vehicles for 2.85 million hryvnias each and took out a loan of 341,500 hryvnias. The car was bought from SCM-1 LLC, a dealer and importer specializing in new electric and hybrid vehicles.
Declaration and Other Assets
In his 2025 asset declaration, Shapovalov also listed two other cars: a 2019 BMW X7 M50i/G07 and a 2015 Audi A6. Additionally, the document includes a 2006 Bombardier watercraft and two trailers. Notably, the new Zeekr 9X has an all-electric range of 355 kilometers, while its total driving range reaches 1,165 kilometers. This information was published by media outlets citing the official declaration registry.
The purchase of a new electric car by a Ukrainian lawmaker highlights a growing interest in electric vehicles within the country, particularly among public officials. This trend may reflect the government’s efforts to promote eco-friendly transportation, aligning with global sustainability goals. Moreover, the sale of two older vehicles and the use of a loan to finance the purchase illustrate the financial strategies lawmakers sometimes employ to support personal investments in emerging technologies.
