Challenges of Artist Pensions in Ukraine
Svitlana Bilonozhko, a People's Artist of Ukraine, has voiced concerns over her pension, which currently stands at 11,600 hryvnias. Previously, her pension was 8,000 hryvnias before rising to 10,000 hryvnias. Despite these incremental increases, Bilonozhko argues that artists deserve far greater financial support in retirement. She stated that an ideal pension for performers should be at least 1,000 dollars per month.

Back then, everyone envied us, saying, 'Wow, that's 20 rubles for the two of you!'” These memories highlight how substantial their fees were compared to today's pension amounts.
