Weather Forecast for Ukraine in Early February

Meteorologist Natalka Didenko has issued a warning of a severe cold snap arriving in Ukraine, with extreme frosts expected in early February. This sharp drop follows a period of unseasonably mild weather. On January 30, temperatures in most regions will fall to between -2°C and -8°C, while the south and southeast will see milder readings of +1°C to +5°C. The Left Bank region can expect wet snow and rain, and in Kyiv, the mercury will drop to -5°C to -8°C.

Cold Front's Epicenter and Upcoming Forecast

The epicenter of the cold is forecast to shift to northern Ukraine, including Kyiv. The peak of the freeze is anticipated between February 1 and 4, with nighttime temperatures potentially plunging to a bitter -20°C to -28°C. In Kyiv, the most intense cold is predicted for February 1-2.

Natalka Didenko stated: 'The period from February 1 to 4 will see the peak of the frosts, with nighttime temperatures reaching -20°C to -28°C, and even lower in some places.'

Forecasters predict a moderation in the severe cold will only begin around February 5. The meteorologist also warned that following today's warmth, conditions in Kyiv will become treacherous.

The forecaster noted: 'Tomorrow in Kyiv, we expect the air temperature to fall to -5°C to -8°C!'

The announced cold snap is likely to significantly impact daily life across Ukraine, affecting key areas including:

  • transportation networks
  • energy supplies
  • utility services

During such extreme cold, adhering to safety measures is crucial to prevent injuries and protect health. Meteorologists urge the public to exercise caution on roads and to take necessary precautions against the freezing conditions.
