University education is counted towards pension service: the main condition
The years of education at the university can only be counted towards pension service if they fall before 2004 and are supported by documents. This rule became relevant after the enactment of the law on mandatory state pension insurance, which came into effect on January 1, 2004. According to this law, the years of study at higher and secondary educational institutions, as well as courses for advanced training, retraining, and personnel training may be included in the pension service.
Documents for confirming education
In order for the years of study to be counted towards insurance service, certain documents need to be provided. Among them:
- passport
- diploma (for plastic diplomas, an appendix is also required)
- identification code
- registration certificate
- work book
- marriage certificate
- military ticket (for men)
These documents serve as proof of education and are necessary for carrying out the enrollment procedure.
It should be noted that in 2026, pensions for Ukrainians may increase due to indexing and the increase in the minimum living wage. This emphasizes the importance of properly preparing documents that may affect the amount of pension in the future. According to current regulations, individuals who studied before 2004 have the opportunity to consider this period in their pension service, which can positively impact their financial support in old age.
Including the years of study in pension service is an important step for many Ukrainians who wish to improve their future pension payments. This is especially relevant in conditions where the significance of pension provision increases against the backdrop of economic changes and potential reforms in the social security system. Confirming education with documents helps avoid misunderstandings and ensures an adequate level of financial support in old age.
