Why emergency buttons appeared in public transport of Zaporizhzhia

Emergency buttons connected to the centralized police monitoring station started operating in public transport of Zaporizhzhia. The system has already been implemented in city buses, trolleybuses, and trams, where currently 124 such buttons are installed. This is reported by 1news.zp.ua.

According to the Zaporizhzhia City Council, the new equipment is aimed at enhancing the safety of passengers and transport workers. The buttons allow for a rapid response to aggressive behavior, conflicts, or other emergencies during transit.

Emergency buttons in transport in Zaporizhzhia: how it works

In case of danger, the driver or conductor can instantly send an alarm signal. The message is automatically sent to the security police's control room, after which the nearest unit receives the coordinates of the transport and departs for the incident location.

The city council explained that the system operates around the clock and does not require additional actions from passengers, except informing transport workers about the danger.

Passenger safety in Zaporizhzhia: what situations the system covers

Emergency buttons are intended to respond to the following cases:

  • aggressive or inadequate behavior of passengers;
  • conflict situations inside the transport;
  • threats to the life or health of individuals;
  • other emergencies during transit.

The city authorities emphasize that the implementation of the system is part of comprehensive measures to enhance safety in wartime conditions.

Recall that in Zaporizhzhia, a digital transport card 'Sich General' was introduced, allowing payment for public transport directly from a smartphone.
