Ukrainians who are legally residing in Poland after February 24, 2022, have access to the electronic document Diia.pl. It has been officially included in the list of residence permits, and the document can be used as a digital identity card and confirmation of legal status. As reported by inpoland.net.pl.
In July 2022, the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration informed the European Commission that Diia.pl can be used as a temporary residence permit. This information was communicated to EU states and associated Schengen countries, which provided the document with broader recognition.
Diia.pl for Ukrainians in Poland: What the Document Provides
Diia.pl allows Ukrainians to travel within the Schengen area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, provided they hold a valid travel document. In everyday life, it can be used as a digital identity card in Poland.
The document is available in the mObywatel application and has legal validity in the country.

How to Obtain Diia.pl: Main Conditions
Diia.pl can be used by adult citizens of Ukraine who:
- crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border after February 24, 2022
- are legally residing in Poland
- have a PESEL number
- activated their trusted profile.
The trusted profile can be set up when applying for a PESEL, at a municipal office, or online with subsequent confirmation, including through specific Polish banks. The mObywatel application is free, works on smartphones with Android 6.0 and iOS 13.0 or newer versions, and is administered by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland.
