The National Anti-Corruption Agency uses digital technologies to enhance its anti-corruption efforts. Analytics and artificial intelligence play an important role in transforming processes into a high-tech system.
During the Regional Forum in North Macedonia, NABU representatives discussed issues of financial transparency, state services, the efficiency of prosecution, and others with participants. Special attention was given to the use of modern technologies to ensure transparency and accountability.
“This is a three-stage filter that helps analyze all declarations and identify those with the highest risk rating. However, it is still too early to talk about the application of AI at NABU: the Agency works with large volumes of sensitive and confidential information. Ensuring the security of this data is an absolute priority, so transferring it to third parties or using external AI systems is unacceptable,” said Serhiy Hupyak.
NABU also uses innovative IT products that promote transparency and automate processes at the state level. These include the register of declarations, the register of political party reports, the whistleblower notifications portal, and others.
New opportunities for anti-corruption expertise
The Deputy Head of NABU spoke about the prospects for using artificial intelligence in the field of anti-corruption expertise of legal acts. AI algorithms can analyze projects for potential corruption risks and speed up the work of experts.
“This approach significantly speeds up the work of experts and increases the analytical potential of the Agency. However, the final assessment and decision-making remain within the competence of NABU specialists, as AI serves only as an auxiliary tool that supports, and does not replace, human expertise.”
The National Anti-Corruption Agency actively uses modern technologies and digital tools to improve its activities. The application of artificial intelligence helps not only to more quickly identify potential corruption risks but also increases the analytical level of work. It is also important to emphasize that NABU invests significant efforts to ensure the security of confidential information, which confirms its high standard of professionalism.
