Presentation of NAZK's new tools

At a meeting of the BI Defence Community working group, the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NAZK) presented two new practical tools aimed at building integrity in the security and defense sector. The first is an electronic platform "Building Integrity in the Security and Defense Sector: BI Defence Community," and the second is an interactive task completion card for the NATO Initial Requirement for Interoperability 0204 "Building Integrity."

The interactive card was developed in collaboration with the Corruption Prevention Department of the National Police of Ukraine. The platform already has initial content and further expansion is planned. Representatives from Ukrainian security and defense authorities, as well as international partners, including NATO headquarters, the NATO Representation in Ukraine, the Centre for Integrity in the Defence Sector under the Ministry of Defence of Norway, and others, participated in the meeting.

Discussion and the importance of cooperation

Among the participants were NAZK Deputy Head Serhii Hupiak, NATO headquarters representative Joakim Frendin, CIDS representative Terje Haaverstad, and head of the Integrity Policy Development Department in the Security and Defense Sector Marta Ivashkiv. The participants discussed their own achievements in the field of integrity and corruption prevention.

Serhii Hupiak noted: "It is fundamentally important for us that cooperation among state institutions, international partners, and civil society in building integrity in the security and defense sector yields concrete results..."

Marta Ivashkiv emphasized the importance of sharing experiences: "Each component of the security and defense sector has its own experiences, strengths, and achievements that are important to share. That is why we strive to create a unified space for exchanging information and practical solutions."

The platform will include various resources, including:

  • news
  • educational courses
  • methodological materials
  • practical tools
  • international experience
  • achievements of Ukrainian institutions

The round table participants confirmed their readiness for further cooperation within the initiative aimed at improving the quality of work in the security and defense sector in Ukraine.

The presentation of NAZK's new tools is an important step towards enhancing transparency and integrity in the Ukrainian security and defense sector. Cooperation between government bodies, international partners, and civil society will contribute to the development of effective anti-corruption mechanisms and the raising of interoperability standards with NATO. This could significantly reduce corruption risks and improve Ukraine's image on the international stage.

In light of these developments, the collaboration between various institutions is crucial for effectively addressing corruption risks. Recently, the Council of Europe provided a methodology to the National Agency for Corruption Prevention, which aims to enhance the mapping of corruption vulnerabilities. This methodology complements NAZK's initiatives, reinforcing the commitment to integrity within the defense sector.
