The USA and India Lead in the Ranking of Reading Countries: Where Does Ukraine Stand

The latest research from the World Population Review revealed that the world is divided into 'bookworms' and those who are not very interested in books. The USA and India emerged as the leaders in the global ranking of books read.


Among the world leaders in the number of books read per year are the USA, India, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy. This ranking also showed how much time each country devotes to reading. For example, on average, Americans spend 357 hours per year on this, while Ukrainians and Hungarians are positioned in the middle of the list.


The most read books throughout history are religious texts - the Bible and the Quran.

New research also showed an increase in interest in 'corset novels.' Over the past five years, 42% of women from Generation Z and millennials have bought more books of this genre. It is also worth mentioning Ilya Otrushenko, who became the youngest author of a trilogy in Ukraine at the age of 12.



According to the latest research from the World Population Review, the USA and India turned out to be leaders in the number of books read per year. Researchers also showed an increase in the popularity of 'corset novels' among young people, revealing interesting trends in the world of reading.
