Qualification Events for 3x3 Basketball at the 2028 Olympic Games

The venues for the 3x3 basketball qualification tournaments leading up to the 2028 Olympics have been officially confirmed. These events are part of the Olympic Q-Series, a collection of multi-sport tournaments covering six Olympic disciplines, including 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, BMX freestyle, sport climbing, flag football, and skateboarding. The 2028 Games, set to take place in Los Angeles, will mark the first time that both the men's and women's 3x3 basketball competitions feature 12 teams each.

Tournament Host Cities

The qualifying tournaments will be held in four cities around the globe:

  • Tokyo (Japan) – May 4 to 7, 2028
  • Shanghai (China) – May 11 to 14, 2028
  • Montreal (Canada) – June 1 to 4, 2028
  • Orlando (USA) – June 8 to 11, 2028

Some Olympic berths will be awarded based on the world rankings, while six spots for both men and women will be determined through these 2028 qualification tournaments.

In related news, Ukraine's national men's team faced a defeat against Spain in the fourth round of qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup, with a final score of 78:64.
