A New Textbook on Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has created a new textbook titled 'Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy' for ninth-grade students in general secondary education. This publication, which carries the official 'Recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine' endorsement, builds upon the methodological and content framework established by the eighth-grade textbook. Following successful pilot testing, the book has been confirmed to align with the State Standard for Basic Secondary Education and the requirements of the New Ukrainian School reform.

Financial Literacy as a Core Priority

Starting in the 2026-2027 academic year, students who began studying financial literacy in the eighth grade will continue the subject in the ninth grade. NBUs Governor, Andriy Pyshnyi, emphasized that financial literacy is a priority for the central bank, as it lays the foundation for financially responsible behavior and the economic resilience of society. He stressed that fostering entrepreneurial skills in youth is critically important for Ukraine's future reconstruction and post-war development. This initiative reflects a growing global trend of integrating practical financial education into core curricula to prepare younger generations.

Continuing the course into the ninth grade will allow for the systematic development of financial and entrepreneurial competencies, as a significant portion of the material is dedicated specifically to entrepreneurship.

Consequently, the new textbook represents a crucial step in enhancing youth financial literacy and preparing them for active participation in the country's economic life.

This ministry-recommended textbook is part of the state's broader efforts to improve the population's financial literacy, a need that is particularly acute given current economic challenges. Integrating financial literacy into the school curriculum can help equip young people with the skills necessary to adapt to changing economic conditions and contribute to national recovery.
