The National Bank of Ukraine has announced the issuance of new banknotes in the denomination of 20 hryvnias in honor of Independence Day. The new banknotes will feature the slogan 'Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!', which will appear on the reverse side of the bills.
These new 20 hryvnia banknotes will start to be supplied to banking institutions from August 21, 2025. The NBU calls on financial organizations to begin their use to replace old banknotes. The population is not required to exchange previous twenty-hryvnia banknotes for the new ones, which remain legal means of payment.
After the issuance of the new twenty-hryvnia banknotes, the NBU also plans to modernize banknotes in the denominations of 100 and 200 hryvnias. Thus, this will become part of the regular updating of the monetary circulation in Ukraine.
